RM350 Lecture Series - Talk by Major General Julian Thompson CB OBE RM

Saturday 25 Oct 2pm-3.30pm

One of 4 lecture series to celebrate RM350 and hosted by the RM Historical Society, guest  speaker Major General Julian Thompson CB OBE RM provides insight into his experiences as  a military historian and former Royal Marines officer who commanded 3 Commando Brigade during the Falklands War. He retired in 1986 and has written extensively on the Falklands conflict and other aspects of British military history including the Iraq War. He is also a visiting professor at the department of War Studies, King's College, University of London.

October Half Term Activities

"Get me out of here" - Survival Undercover Saturday 25 Oct to Sunday 2 Nov

Develop your skills as a covert agent in our survival undercover themed activities this October. Learn about the various ways Royal Marines have worked undercover through the ages, and try out some spying skills of your own.

Part of our ‘Survival’ themed year of activities. Activities run in all weather conditions.

Aimed at family audiences.  Normal Museum admission applies.

Family Activities will not run on Public Event days.

Annual Service of Remembrance

Sunday 9 Nov, starts at 10.45am

Join us for our annual Service of Remembrance in the grounds of the Royal Marines Museum, made even more poignant in this 350th year anniversary of the Royal Marines.

10am visitors arrive at Museum  10.50am Drumhead Ceremony by the Royal Marines School of Music followed by a wreath laying ceremony around the Lumsden Memorial and standard bearers from local RMA branches .The Naval Chaplaincy will conduct the Service  11am Fort Cumberland Guard will fire the gun to signal the start and the finish if the two minutes silence.

Bar available from 11am

£5 per person to include a glass of wine or soft drink on arrival and canapé selection.

Free admission to the Museum all day.

Parking fee payable on entry to the car park.

RM350 Lecture Series - Talk by David Rowlands

Wednesday 19 November 6.30pm-8.45pm

One of 4 lecture series to celebrate RM350 and hosted by guest speaker David Rowlands one of today's finest and most accurate military artists. David’s passion for sketching soldiers and their equipment began when he was a boy and has continued on to produce many historical paintings. 

£5 per person to include a glass of wine or soft drink on arrival.

Supper package available: Chilli / vegetarian option available with rice, mixed salad, chunky bread and butter. This is 1 course meal and served hot buffet style) £7.50 per person

The supper is an additional option to the standard ticket: Lecture and glass of wine/soft drink £5.00, upgrade for an additional £7.50 for the supper.

There will also be a cash bar for further drinks.
