Commando Family Action
Fun for all the family with family activities led by Royal Marines cadets who give you the chance to experience the life of a Royal Marine
Monday - Special Forces: The Royal Marine is a thinking soldier. This is your chance to experience first hand the operations they train for. Take part in the murky world of secret missions and black operations.
Morning Session 11am ‘Ambush’: A group of terrorists are planning to attack a British installation. The team has to track them to their rendezvous point and launch an ambush on them before they can get to the British installation.
Afternoon Session 2pm ‘Snatch’: A local warlord and his entourage are on the move. The team has to track down the group, ambush them and extract the warlord. Monday - Commando Operations
Tuesday - Commando Fit: 11am and 2pm. Physical training, Royal Marines style plus our outdoor field assault course. Warm-up on the Assault Course and enjoy a physical session ‘Log Run’
Wednesday - Behind Enemy Lines: Royal Marines are called on to deal with emergencies all over the world. Do you have what it takes to respond to these emergencies?
Morning Session 11am ‘Escape and Evade’: The team has been dropped behind enemy lines. They have set up a camp while they wait for help. Then make their way to the helicopter for evacuation.
Afternoon Session 2pm ‘Raid’: Informants have revealed that vital intelligence is being stored in an enemy camp. The team has to attack the camp, then find the intelligence and get out before enemy reinforcements arrive.
Thursday - Field Gun: 11am and 2 pm. Our family friendly incarnation of the Navy's famous Command Field Gun Run.
Friday - Pirates: Missions to keep the high seas free from pirates.
Morning Session 11am 'Dawn Raid’: Acting on intelligence, the team has to go ashore to find a local crime lord who is running pirates in the area. They will have to search for him and then apprehend him.
Afternoon Session 2pm ‘Boarding Action’: A merchant ship has been hijacked. The team has to retake the ship and rescue the crew. The team needs to get the scraps of the circuit diagram so they can work out how to diffuse the bomb.
New for 2013 Open Wednesdays with the Curators (Wed 24 & 31 July; Wed 7, 14, 21, 28 August) 10am-5pm

Why not come along to our Open Wednesdays where our expert curators and archivists will be on hand to help provide you with the information you need to get you started. These one-to-one 'drop in sessions' will be available every Wednesday during the Hampshire Schools' holidays and half terms. There is no need to prebook; simply turn up, meet the curators and take a tour of the Museum.
Normal Museum admission applies.
