The Royal Marines 1950-82
The New "End of Empire" display exhibits the role of the Royal Marines in the post-war era and highlights the wide range of conflicts in which they fought.

With the gradual reduction of the British Empire and the need to deal with communist insurgency in the Far East, Royal Marines were in constant demand following World War Two.
Peacekeeping, humanitarian efforts and the impact of the Cold War are all highlighted for visitors. With materials on conflicts in Korea, Suez, Cyprus and Aden, and many related exhibits on show, the display shows the versatility and ability of the Royal Marines.
Combined with a range of models of naval vessels, and information on Commando carriers of the 1950s-1980s, visitors can see for themselves what a consistently resourceful force the Royal Marines have been.
