The Making of the Royal Marines Commando
See what recruits undergo through their 32 week training course to earn the prestigious green beret...

This exciting exhibition, opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in June 2008, highlights the rigours and demands of the training required to become a Royal Marines Commando. With video footage, hands-on interactive displays and even a SA-80 rifle simulator, the exhibition has something for everyone to enjoy.
The exhibition begins by highlighting what it is like as a fresh recruit starting at Lympstone (the Commando Training Centre in Devon). From there, the display goes onto aspects of basic training, the final key tests undertaken and the Passing Out parade. Further background is also provided on specialisations they may undertake as Royal Marines, and some of the environments they could expect to serve in. Being Royal Marines, anything from arctic conditions to jungle warfare is to be expected!
