Welcome to the website of the Royal Marines Museum!

Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Museum has something to offer the whole family!

The Museum building is magnificent...The Royal Marines Museum, situated on the seafront at Southsea, Portsmouth, is a proud and welcoming Museum set in striking Victorian surroundings.
Based in the lavishly decorated former Officers’ Mess of Eastney Barracks, built in the 1860s for the Royal Marine Artillery, the Museum is situated in the heart of their history.

There is something for the whole family to enjoy! The Royal Marines Museum celebrates the famous fighting spirit and long history of the Royal Marines. From their early beginnings in 1664, through to their recent involvement in arenas such as Afghanistan and Iraq, the Museum highlights the skills, determination and courage of those proud to serve the Royal Marines.
From personal logs and diaries through to equipment used, the Museum highlights just what was (and is) required from each and every Marine.
With beautifully displayed exhibits, video presentations and interactive displays on everything from World War Two to the Royal Marines Band Service, the Museum really comes alive.
