After visiting the Royal Marines Museum, why not visit the Submarine Museum...
Find out why the Jolly Roger is the battle ensign of the Royal Navy Submarine Service at this great-value award winning Museum which tells the story of our submariners, who in 1901 were disdained as smelly ‘unwashed chauffeurs’ in their tiny Holland-class boats, but are today custodians of Britain’s national nuclear deterrent in their massive Vanguard-class submarines. Through a mix of a guided tour of a WWII submarine by an experienced submariner, exhibits of historic submarines through the ages, hands-on interactives, periscopes and weapons, and areas that recognise their courage and sacrifice during peace and war, visitors of all ages will get a taste of life beneath the waves with these extraordinary men. There is even a yellow submarine to play in that will excite our youngest visitors! Royal Navy Submarine Museum |
