The money will be used to pay for a brand new archive storage system enabling the Museum’s extensive archives to be stored in a much more effective way. Some of the items include a huge archive of Landing Craft plans numbering over 4,000 items alone.

The Royal Marines Museum in Portsmouth has acquired an important presentation sword 200 years after the Battle it commemorates. The steel sword was presented to Captain Robert Torrens following the Battle for Anholt on 27^th March 1811. Thanks to a major grant from the Art Fund, the rare item was bought at auction and has gone on display in time for the Battle’s 200^th anniversary.
