Getting here

Getting to the Museum by car or public transport is easy, and we have a large car park available to visitors. Please note the museum will be closed from 1st April 2017.

By car

Follow the 'Seafront' signs and the brown tourist information signs to the Royal Marines Museum, which is situated at the eastern end of Southsea. Directions:

  • From London: take either the A3 (M), M3 from Winchester, M27 from Southampton or A27 from Chichester.
  • From the west: take junction 12 of the M27 onto the A27, then the A288.
  • From the east: take the A2030 junction off the A27, turning south on the A288.

By public transport

Although we are not directly on a public transport route the Museum is accessible by bus and train. The nearest bus stop is Southsea South Parade Pier which is a 15-20 minute walk away. The nearest train station is 3-4 miles away. For up-to-date bus and train timetable information please consult the relevant local transport websites.


There is a large Museum car park available for visitors which is payable on the day. For cyclists, a cycle rack is available under the main stairs at the Museum entrance.
